There came a day when all seemed well,
that anyone who would try to flag me, foretell -
would have found me perhaps stunned,
aghast as a ghost, from something past
and thought forgotten.
There was no warning, no chance
to reinvent some form of excuse
to ricochet back the remarks that
I thought was meant not mean -
or did they suppose?
It was my response that
did not make things better,
did not shake off those thoughts
that made little sense if they
were from a friend.
My fault was pointed out,
my penance by pen arranged,
though fully did my senses seem
deem fantastical what I read next.
Of all the acts of one person could be
listed, and highlighted and scored
before all - with the neat
"Won" and "Lost" columns
they keep so surgically clean
and up-to-the-minute with
all the bits 'n pieces to come
'round the chat group later...

I found lying in wait for me words
that not only claim that I was
"this person" and certainly meant
"those words" and how others
who did not know who it was
righteously began to join
the prayer group that already
decided that a stranger was
something he perfectly was

And knowing full well who I was
meant that it really didn't matter
what I thought....about

I'm a healer,
not a harmer,
and the death thinking
that others thought
certainly was
had nothing to
do with

I'm a big enough
to say that
I'm sorry,
and a even
bigger person
for not demanding
something from
another who
believes what
they wish.
