After his life-threatening battle with cancer, I realized my brother's impact on my life.
Time like steaming water
a lifetime pours
through rich, ground coffee --
crystal brown goodness
that drip, drip, drips
through a paper portal
into my empty glass world.
With every word
you encouraged, supported me,
a steeping brew:
knowledge, patience and understanding.
Big brother,
my cup overfloweth
from the warm blend
I savor from a meager vessel --
a mug made special
because I'm filled with its love.
