The importance of what is.
Word Count: 179
Line Count: 27
Form: Free Verse

I see how people wonder often,
About what has been, their yesterdays.
They’re often lost, in memories of old;
Thoughts of loss, pain and remorse.
They think of all the things that had been,
Or the love that couldn’t be.
They yearn for the past with tears,
Hope to wander through the muzzle,
Once again.

I see how people wonder often,
About what will be, their future days.
They plan and plot, thinking they control,
What their tomorrows will unfold.
They dream of the days when they will be,
Happy always, oh the irony.
They yearn for the days to go by fast,
Live their lives in a blur,
Then yearn for what’s past.

I fail to see why people never,
Live their lives in the today.
They don’t realize that their pasts,
Have set the stage for what’s at hand.
How come they fail to see that their todays,
Are the setting places for their tomorrows.
Which shall be tomorrow no more when mature,
For we shall dwell, forever, in today and,
Today shall matter the most, always!
