Two friends disagree.

Once there were two long-time friends
who lived down by the sea.
The first friend was named Disagree,
the other one, Agree.

Their friendship was deep like the sea,
of this they would agree.
They pulled together like the tide
for friendship was the key.

They had a boat tied to a pier
that they took time to sail.
But once the sea commanded it
because there was a gale.

And that was the beginning of
a time when two friends vied.
For they could simply not agree
who left the boat untied.

When Disagree accused Agree,
Agree would disagree.
He then would see that Disagree
could argue by degree.

So then Agree looked at the sea,
accusing Disagree.
Yet Disagree would diss Agree
as if Agree were wee.

Agree is free to disagree
with me
, thought Disagree.
Yet I think I am also free
to argue with Agree.

Agree thought much like Disagree
yet he was more alee.
He could forever disagree,
or weather it and see.

Dissent went on until Agree
replayed an old CD.
Then neither one could disagree
when they heard, Let it Be.

But in the end the friends Agree
along with Disagree,
despite the plaintive Beatles’ plea,
agreed to disagree.
