One of those nights so quiet
that the silence is deafening
as you lay there waiting for
her to walk through the
door and lay down
although you know that
she’s not coming back.

One of those nights so cold
that you can’t fall asleep
as you reach out expecting
to feel her warmth beneath your
touch although you know that
she’d only be cold to you.
