A poem written to a theme based on Guns and Roses son 'Street of dreams'.
Illusion’s Delusion

Glimmers of hope alluring, all the bright lights,
Great cities, money, all the world has to give.
While people suffer, yet we forget their plight
Along the street of dreams, all the dream that we live.

It hurts to finally make this conclusion
That all life’s distractions create an illusion

Distracted by fashions, all that’s in vogue,
Deluded by the great need to succeed.
Disillusioned at the thought of being a rogue
As the value of money will ever recede

It hurts to finally make this conclusion
That all life’s distractions create an illusion

I meet various people daily outside
Believing that what I perceive is what I get
And then only to be dashed by what lies inside
Empty shells, brainwashed and vacant, I will bet

It hurts to finally make this conclusion
That all life’s distractions create an illusion
