This is my reaction to being in a car accident.
It was beautiful. For that small moment of time the world moved in slow motion. As we rolled around and around, it was as if my life was shattering to pieces. Then suddenly I was broken. As my head slammed against the window it all went black. I felt all of my hard work and dreams being ripped away. I was completely powerless. The allusion of control that I once had vanished. My life was completely out of my control. It was both devastating and humbling, because in that moment I finally understood. I finally understood what it meant to have faith. Faith that my mother would once again get to hear her daughter's voice. Faith that my father would get to kiss his baby girl on the forehead again. Faith that I would live to see another day. Faith wasn't the only thing that I finally came to understand though. In those life altering seconds I had also come to understand fear. Fear that I hadn't thought I would ever have to feel. Fear that my life was about to end. That my life was about to be ripped away from me. Fear my family would never see my smile again. I came to understand a fear so powerful that it broke my heart.
