A seemingly existential piece of prose/poetry
We are as we are, singular
Still and settled in our ways
We are unshakably stubborn
Desiring instant gratification
Grinding our teeth, unmoved
Do we see the sunrise?
I mean truly see the sunrise?
Or do we just update others
On our status of said sun view
Do we see the morning dew?
I mean truly see the droplets?
On every leaf, on the pavement
Or do we snap it with a camera
Never our own eyes and mind
Do we ever really hear each other?
I mean truly hear one another?
Or do we read what we want to
See what we hanker for
Assume the worst, the best
Whatever suits our lone souls
Fitting people into our lives
Like corner puzzle pieces
Avoiding the center of our hearts
Because it's easy to duck, hide
Behind the constructed walls
Of our built up spurious lives
