A poem about fear being love's greatest rival.
An impossible love,
mysterious like the heavens above.
Offered freely by a desirable lover,
yet, rejected by the fearful other.

Barriers prevent love from taking flight,
fears keeping it down with all its might.
Disappointments haunt the reluctant soul,
delights of love might never show.

Yearning to swim in its glorious sea,
yet, drowning in a pool of hesitancy.
Unable to welcome love's arrival,
fighting futilely with its greatest rival.

Oh Lord, why am I afraid to embrace her?
Trepidation has left him sour and bitter.
