a short poem about any house anywhere that makes you angry.
The Broken House

Please don’t make them angry.
Don’t shake to wake them up.
Leave asleep sleeping dogs.
We think we’ve seen enough.

The devils do not lead.
The demons do not bleed.
They lurk in the shadows.
They linger in the weeds.

Enough of the lying.
Enough of the deceit.
The angels have risen.
Now the children must weep.

You steal what is stolen.
You ride off with our seed.
You thought we rode easy.
You don’t know what you see.

Gather round homeless peeps.
Righteous candles alight.
The promises we keep.
We keep them all tonight.

We built this glory castle.
We’ll turn it all around.
When we are successful.
It burns on sacred ground.
