Macadamia moments dunked
in Kona coffee.
Cherry wood fire doing its flaring best
to emulate Madam Pele who is off
busy chasing down Mother Nature
who clearly needs her meds.
She's bi-polar, don't you know!

Focusing on memorabilia from Maui:
mental exercise to dispel the chill.
Toes curling, uncurling in fuzzy blanket
wanting naught but to curl in warm sand.
Pictures scroll across screensaver,
moments savered,
momentary transport.

Dried lei in shadowbox still clings
to purple colors; faint fragrance
perfumes imagination. Drowned
out by newsflash from other room:
six inches of snow expected overnight.
Madam Pele hisses, shoots sparks
while she, too, dreams of home.
