A journey that took place in my head
The wistle sounds, the car it lurchs
as the trains wheels start to squeal.
I awaken from my slumber,
to the sound of steel on steel.

This trip is one I've been on
a time or two before.
Yet I still feel the same excitement
as I shuffle towards the door.

I have no idea what is waiting
for me on the other side.
After what feels like an eternity
the portal opens wide.

I take my first steps out into,
this new and foreign land.
I breath the air and take things in,
turning where I stand.

Brand new hills and valleys.
Strange new flowers and bees.
Fresh new air and breezes.
Blow through unfamiliar trees.

I start to walk from the platform.
The new lands I will explore.
But I must always keep in sight
the yawning, open door.

My visits to these places
are always bitter sweet.
Forever weighing on my mind
is returning to my seat.

I have no home in these lands.
My visits here must end.
Home for me is another place
and it’s there I must attend.
