I've always had a fascination with trees.
Trees stand menacing, towering tall,
Against the bleak horizon.
They’ve seen the past,
They see the present,
They’ll see the future.
They watch us as we destroy the world.
They saw the destruction start,
They will see it end.
They stand in forests and groves,
Whispering the secrets of the ages,
Watching us.
What would trees say if they could talk?
Would they give us shit for the way we are?
Would they coax us on as to get rid of us?
These questions I ask as the trees of the earth stand,
Silently waiting,
Watching us.
