Short poem I had an idea for regarding divorce.
The judge asks if I agree with what you want
And all I can say is “I do”.
I look ever at you, beautiful and gaunt,
To see you sign away the lives we once knew.

We signed in blood
To cleanse our sins and our stains.
Now we dash the red into a flood
So that only a drop remains.

I wanted to fight and scream.
You dashed my soul against the stones
And tore my heart from its seams,
But I stayed calm and cold as bone.

I couldn’t bring myself to say no
Because I vowed I’d always support you
No matter where you go,
No matter what you do.
