A poem for an ex-girlfriend who is still one of my best friends (Scandinavian style).
You took the time to take my breath
And held my heart high to heaven.
Rather than reap the rewards you rightfully wrought,
You sang the solemn song I soulfully sought.

I pondered you to possibly be the panacea to pain,
And felt freedom's fathomless fire for the first time in forever.
I never knew how neglectful nothings navigated a noose around my neck
Until you gave me glee and granted my grief a grim grave.

While memories meander my mellow mind,
Emotions eternally ebb and ease what can't be erased.
I wonder under a wilting weeping willow of what and of when
The text and time will be when I can tell you a story once again.
