| Crisp cellophane ripped apart - the excitement growing uncontrollably, Becoming but an expectant child the morning of Christmas Not the joy of love, hope, faith or lasting pleasure but a fleeting moment - The Chimes of a clock; the old King’s new mistress and the helpless Queen. Handcuffs tightening over the masses gripping tighter and tighter. Each new purchase bringing the promise of parole, The corporate board sitting with the devil’s smile - Nothing but rats running endlessly - the few finding the cliff. Watching the clothes, the bags, the smiles like halos in the camera flash, Religious idolatry worshipped; the ages accelerating like the tireless cheetah. Left outside but outcasts - The temptation to succumb drawing controllably, A flash. Quicksand pulling inwards, resistance but futile. But the few refuse to play the dance with the devil, their soul smiling. The treasured moment tormenting 40 days and 40 nights But no deal done for that such fleeting, treasured moment - To sell away the true desired treasured eternity. |
