For a story poem contest
|Hey there Norton how’ve you been.
Oh not bad Carl how bout you?
Oh you know the usually.
Ah, so nothing really new.
No not really just living The dream.
Good to hear, well I gotta get going.
Oh, have a busy day, do ya?
Well the lawn does need mowing.
You know Norton, I do have a question.
Oh yeah Carl, what could that be?
Well, you see that leafy thing over there?
What, you mean that tree?
Yeah. That’s it. Anything look weird?
Not To sure Carl, what do you see?
Well Norton if you look real close.
That’s my car under your tree.
It fell on it last night, Surprised you didn’t know.
Huh. Didn’t see a thing. Well, gotta go.
That’s fine Norton, Go ahead and cut your grass.
You’ll be hearing from my lawyer, I’m gonna sue your ass.
That tree’s been rotting,
For the last 6 or 7 years.
I’ve asked you to cut it many times,
But procrastination perseveres.
So now it looks like you owe me,
A brand new Cadillac.
But go ahead and cut your grass,
Don’t miss that spot in the back.
Well geez Carl, I hate to say,
But that tree isn’t mine.
If you look at that pin there,
That’s the property line.
I’ve been telling YOU THAT,
For 10 years, maybe more.
But it’s something that your seem,
To’ve chosen to ignore.
So good day good neighbour,
I have to go. Sorry ‘bout your car.
But when your lawyer comes to call,
Please keep him in your yard.
