Failing Love

Only in silence will you fail love’s test.
Love cannot flourish when kept from the light.
Ignoring our feelings about those oppressed,
we watch silently at our brother’s plight,
turning a blind eye to hatred’s dark blight.

When love is present, it goes far beyond
romance and affection. It fills your mind
with joy and compassion. It shows us the bond
that we all share; each life intertwined
like threads in a tapestry we call mankind.

Embrace love’s potential by sharing your joy.
Open your heart; recognize other’s needs.
Silence is a poison. It will destroy
those who hold back, regardless of creed,
and further the spread of hate’s bitter seeds.
