This poem is just a play on the word Yesterday
Yesterday is not a distant stare,
That we no longer gaze upon.
Although the present now is here,
it's really neither here nor gone.

Today is only present for a second,
then it quickly becomes yesterday.
So anything you say today is
already looking back that way.

I will not tarry at yesterday's backdoor,
for when today is over I look for more
to see what the future has in store,
for what is ahead of me to explore.

If you really think much about it at all,
yesterday is every second gone away.
it's now the past as each second passes.
Yesterday is longer than the present day,

For one second after twelve o'clock it now
becomes yesterday where memories lay.
Enjoy the past, live in the now and know
that the future is soon coming your way.
