A judge makes a special call when threatened.
Out Of Order
As soon as she heard the first word out of the caller’s mouth, Judge Valerie Gardiere began recording. A high-profile case always brought out the weirdos and the strong arms. The case she was presiding over now was no exception.
“You better step down today, Judge. If I hear you haven’t, I’ll know what to do,” said a heavily disguised voice.
As soon as the connection was broken by the caller, the judge made a call to a familiar number.
“I’ve been threatened. I sent you an audio file of the call. See what you can do, okay?”
She smiled at the answerer’s response.
As she ended the call, she heaved a sigh. In the past, she’d notified the local police and the FBI about these incidents, but never got the kind of action that she always got from that one number. She worried sometimes about her contact there, but she knew what would happen if she voiced her concerns.
The doorbell of a certain secluded mansion rang about an hour later. When a heavily armed thug answered it, two silenced shots were fired. Since the big screen TV was on, the owner of the house, a certain Mob boss, didn’t hear them.
When the door to his luxurious man cave swung open, he looked up irritably. His eyes widened when he saw a leather clad woman pointing a gun at his head.
“Judge Valerie Gardiere? What are you doing here?”
“I have a message from my identical twin sister, the Judge. You’re out of order!” said the head of Gardiere/Rohbe Protection Services.
Then Martine Rohbe coolly aimed and fired between the mobster’s eyes. Then she began setting up the scene so it would look like a rival mob hit. When satisfied, she left quietly.
