why can’t we just be with the person we want to be with?

I look at you now and think to myself,
What happened to all the promises we made.
I look at the sky and remember those times
We looked up high and said it’s alright.

My heart breaks when I hear your name,
Yet you don’t even remember mine.
You’re happy with her and not with me
Although that’s not how it should be.

But I smile now and think in my mind,
