An excerpt from The Positive Side of What No One Knows
|"His name is Jackson. When I first met him, he seemed like a cool guy. He was actually one of two siblings of a neighbor. At least that's what they considered themselves. That's what they were introduced to us as, siblings. I was informed by his sister that he was a good guy and she loved the fact that he was there visiting. With that being said, Jackson was more then curious about getting to know me, right from the beginning.
I remember Jackson sitting on the stairs right outside of our apartment door that went upstairs. We live on the bottom floor, in the only apartment in the house. There were rooms for rent upstairs that had to share a bathroom. Then there was the “attic” which had to more private rooms for someone to live in. The way our room was, if you sat on the stairs outside of our front door, you could see directly to where my bed was.
It wasn't too long after meeting Jackson, that I saw him sitting on the stairs. He was holding a deck of playing cards. He would show me the ace of hearts and give me the sign that meant, I love you. He would point to his eye, then to either his heart or the heart on the card, and then to me. I thought this was weird but it was funny. This was different for me, so I didn't see it as a sign of what was to come later.'
