How were destroying our world and one day it may be gone before we know it
The Day The Earth Died

There's a light that shines so softly
like dew crystals on a lawn.
The sparrow sings so joyfully
with coming of the dawn.

Pastel colors painted on the sky
in a beautiful array.
The symphony of nature's sounds
call to a brand new day.

The flowers wake, petals open wide
with the breath of mornings air.
Squirrels scamper on the ground for food
in peace without a care.

Here I sit by a babbling brook
just listening to it's song.
I see life happening all around
and wonder where we went wrong.

Instead of tending all we're given
without a question how or why.
We rape the land and kill for sport
while polluting up the sky.

This Earth that we've been given
with its grandeur on display.
If we take it all for granted
will die off and blow away.

I hope we have the sense to see
the damage that we're doing.
To change the path of destruction
that now we are pursuing.

I fear one day that when I awake
the sky will all be gray.
No natures sounds and I will know
the earth died on that day.
