A poem about a cake using personification.
The Cake of the Party
I'm not just a delight, I'm also a treat,
most would say I'm so doggone sweet!
I wait for my date to bring me flour,
molding me with intent to devour.
I sat there quietly, looking my best,
even more decadent then all the rest.
I must admit, my taste is rich,
the candles are lit, off goes the switch.
It's time for a party and I am the star,
displayed for all to see, near and far.
It's not so hard, actually a piece of cake
to look this good, make no mistake.
So grab your forks, dig in for a taste,
the end is near, no time to waste.
Pop goes the champagne, away goes the cork.
Next time you be the cake, and I'll be the fork.
