I'm just sitting on this bench here killing time
I’m sitting on this bench here killing time
Some people stare as if it was a crime
I have nothing else to do
That’s really nothing new
I’m just sitting on this bench here killing time

I haven’t got a nickel or a dime
Been here so long I wear a coat of grime
I’ve got no one to meet
And nothing left to eat
So I’m sitting on this bench here killing time

It wasn’t always like this way you know
I used to always have someplace to go
Now everything is gone
I don’t know how to carry on
So I’m just sitting on this bench here killing time

I lost my job six weeks ago today
It happens to the best of us they say
So I started in with drink
And as you’d surely think
I wound up sitting on this bench here killing time

The autumn winds have come and taken hold
The winter will be bitter so I’m told
I’m getting so damn cold
I’m growing so damn old
And I’m just sitting on this bench here killing time

I think I’ll just lie back and rest my head
There’s nothing I can think to do instead
I’ll make this bench my bed
Don’t wake me ‘til I’m dead
I’ll just be lying on this bench here... killing time
