A short piece from the prompt, Emotional Eating.
I ate a Bolo de Mel one summer,
it was so good I ate another.

Full and flushed with happiness,
my appetite still intact,
I tried a Pastel de Nata.
several in actual fact.

As evening falls,
a dark descends,
it aches me with remorse.
An entree of regretfulness
covered in strawberry sauce.

and loathing,
I hate myself today.
I end it,
as I oughta,
with a Viennetta parfait.

A new day,
a new sadness,
I resolve to get things right.
Bring on your carbs
and calories,
I'm ready for the fight.

No eggs for me,
nor bacon,
I settle for some grapes,
nestled on the edge of my plate
with whipping cream
and crepes.

My conscience is so angry.
It screams,
“No more must pass your lips!”
I’ll start my diet,
I’m having fish and chips.

That’s it,
decision made,
Weight Watchers is
where I’ll go.
I celebrate with a
and a Panpepato ........
or two.

I'm happy.
