Isaac throws a party
Halloween Party

"Come on in. We got ourselves a party!" Isaac called from his megaphone.

"Food and drink are in the kitchen. The bathroom's to the right down the hall. Bouncy house for the kids is in the backyard. Costume judging starts at eight. Haunted hayride at nine. Something for everyone," Isaac continued announcing as he strolled through the crowd.

He was excited to be hosting the neighborhood Halloween party. He hadn't gotten to have a party since he was a kid, Isaac and his family had just moved to this farming community and he thought it was a great opportunity to meet all of his neighbors. He had gone all out to make the party a success. Isaac hoped to make it an annual event.

Isaac was especially proud of his Haunted hayride. He had mowed a path through the cornfield for the tractor to pull the riders. The path stretched for two miles and was sure to frighten the participants. He had hired kids from the local High School to play demons, mummies, goblins, and monsters along the trail. The flyer he had delivered called for actors of all ages. Amazed at the response he had received, kids and teachers called day and night wanting to be a bit player on his trail of horrors. Isaac had hired them all. He had scripted for them to jump out at riders on various points along the trail.

"Don't forget the trail ride begins at nine. It will be an adventure in horror," he hollered through the newly purchased toy.

At the appointed time, guests lined up to be the first. Isaac was thrilled that so many people wanted to ride. He filled the wagon with hay bales and blankets. He helped the passengers load. As he chatted with a few of the teens boarding the wagon, he reminded them to come out for a job for next year's party.

"I will send a flyer to your school with the details. Would love to have you next year!"

"The only high school is in Dubois. Make sure you send one there. We would love to do it!" one of the teenagers replied.

Isaac was momentarily confused because he was sure he had visited the school just a mile up the road. He made a mental note for next year.

He finished loading the wagon with passengers and sent them on their way. He was excited to see the reaction to the trail when they returned. He could hear the screams in the night. The shrieks frightened even him.

When the wagon returned, the headless corpses of the passengers were discovered. Blood poured through the slats of the trailer. The partygoers had died a horrific death. The gruesome scene left Isaac stunned.

It wasn't until much later, he found the one flaw in his party planning. His actors were actually residents of the Institution for the Criminally Insane, tucked away in the small farming community.
