Reflections on youth baseball
Sitting on the pine of the baseball bench in the deteriorating shack which functioned as the youth baseball, I had a lot of time to contemplate the meaning of life as well as make astute observations regarding the total meaninglessness of the sport of baseball. I rarely played, and if I was assigned duty, I was placed in the outfield, the place where the children with attention and upbringing problems often resided as an effort from the overly competitive coach to appease the parents of children who didn't get much playing time and make an effort to follow the common motto of a chance for child, even if the coach wanted his own son to prosper at the expense of every other player on the team.
