Frustrated musings on endless campaign ads. 32 lines
Those Ads

Kathleen McNamara

A quiet night of movie viewing
ruined by all those campaign ads.
The hot air these ads generate
should make the climate watchers mad.

I can not help but ponder
about the money that is spent.
Do the candidates ever wonder
where all those dollars went?

I can not be the only one
who thinks it such a waste
of all the hard earned money
from the donors they all chase.

"I will fix your problems."
The words all the voters hear.
But the issues never get resolved
despite promises so sincere.

The obscene amounts of money raised,
so many problems it could mend.
Those candidates all should pause and think
about the message that would send.

I realize that these thought of mine
may not be so new.
It is such a simple fix.
Something no one will ever do.

The issues always unresolved.
It's what every candidate needs.
No one would vote for them otherwise.
They'd be unemployed indeed.

So we endure another election cycle,
just a few days more.
We will be granted a brief respite,
then...presidential candidates galore.
