Expressing anger at a news story and the manner in which they are reported.
‘A man killed a man, in the early hours of yesterday morning.’

Man rhymed with man. His delivery, metronomic.
A short, sharp, stop in the mouth. Make it:
feel the lips burst as man tumbles out like
senseless exertion: existence a futile survival
of energy spliced in a million filaments.
Listen to how we sound it: not a trill or a chirp.

How it throbbed like muted drums during
the priest’s sermon. ‘He was a good man.’
An epithet counted in monosyllables,
suffocating in air, like a name
caught in the larynx.
