Based upon the Rolling Stones song 'Sympathy for the Devil'
I'm sure that we have never met before
but perhaps you already know my name?
Though notoriety more fits the bill
it is really just a form of fame

Yes my reputation goes before me
somewhat distorted as it swells and grows
and as to how much truth there is in it
thankfully no one ever truly knows

Rarely am I ever in the limelight
more often I am in the wings
Machiavellian in my approach
puppet master who is pulling the strings

Despite this people have come to fear me
respecting my power, for what it's worth
going out of their way to be pleasing
become a veritable king on earth

I'm sure that we have never met before
but perhaps you already know my name?
So treat me as you hope I would treat you
and pray your wretched soul I never claim.
