"I can't tell you. It's not safe!"

"Tyler, either tell me where you were, or you will be grounded for a month!"

"But the man said he would..."

"NOW!!" His mother's shrill voice left no room for argument.

"Tommy and I went to the abandoned house, and we saw a man who..."

"Enough! The Murphys moved, and there is no mystery to be solved. Now get ready for dinner while your father and I decide what to do about you wandering off."

Knowing better than to try to reason with his irate mother, Tyler stomped up the stairs.

Fifteen minutes later, Tyler returned to the kitchen to find his mother lying motionless on the floor. His father turned to him, his face frozen in horror. He barely registered the words that were the last that Tyler would ever speak.

"I warned her it wasn't safe."
