Hannah experiences her first photo shoot
|Hannah felt her eyes twitching and her hands trembling at her sides as Lisa, her makeup artist, applied mascara to her lashes. It was her first photo shoot towards becoming an official, paid model. These pictures meant everything. They determined whether or not she would be considered in the future. The agency loved her during the interview but wanted to view her portfolio before they accepted her. There's no way she would present an unprofessional picture.
Laura applied the finishing touches to Hannah's makeup then announced, "Perfect, you look gorgeous."
Hannah marveled at her reflection in the mirror. Hannah was tormented in high school, made to feel hideous and insecure. It took her years to build courage and self-respect again. Her reflection was a reminder of her journey and accomplishments.
"I appreciate you, I genuinely do," Hannah rejoiced.
As Hannah stood, her belt loop caught on the chair and ripped. She released a shrill cry as she saw her fluorescent pink panties in the mirror. Horrified, she ran towards the door as beads of tears streamed from her eyes, smearing her mascara.
"Wait, Hannah!" Laura pleaded.
When Laura reached Hannah she was crouched in a corner hysterically mumbling self-deprecating comments. "I don't know why I bother," she sobbed.
"Because you're gorgeous and worth the effort,"
Hannah glanced at Laura, refusing to smile although the remark helped. Her tears ceased yet the damage was done, black makeup covered her face. Laura pulled Hannah to her feet.
As Hannah was about to leave, Laura handed her an exquisite dress, much nicer than what she currently wore. A smile illuminated her face.
"I can't accept this."
"Of course you can," Laura insisted, "get dressed we have a face to design!"
The women embraced each other in a firm hug.
