Scrumptious desserts
There's nothing like
The feeling of
Going home
And sitting down.

Looking past
The open newspapers
Looking past
The open teapot,

Turning your head,
Nodding it slightly
Catching sight
Of that one open jar.

You want to close it
Oh, so badly.
That naggy feeling
Growing larger.

You reach out,
You grab the jar,
But, the lid
Is out of sight.

You search around,
You fumble
For your glasses,
Knocking over a glass.

Through framed eyes,
You peer,
Trying to process
Trying to cope.

The lid is nowhere
To be found,
So you return
To the jar.

Inside, you find
A pleasant surprise.
Two cookies
Dotted with mints.

It's hard to choose
Just one of them.
The sake of your wellbeing
May be at stake.

Both were quite big,
The size of small plates.
Both grasped
Your appetite.

Tempted,
Oh how tempted.
It's really quite hard
To control your calories.

You reach out,
Reach back,
Consume one,
But it's not enough.

You cut part
Of the second.
Hoping for more
Savoring the flavour.

You don't especially
Like mint.
The cold,
Irregular flavor.
