Looking for a lost pet
“Shawn! What on earth are you looking for?”

His mother had been observing him speeding around the blue orb like a crazy Xalpharian.

“I’ve lost Ruffles, mom. I can’t find him anywhere.”

Ruffles was Shawn’s Shiligon Mosasaur. Only a few thousand years old, he was just a pup. He had gotten away during their inter-galactic walk and streaked toward his favorite planet, Earth.

Sticking his head into the icy chill of the Bering sea, Shawn gazed intently in every direction, hoping to get a glimpse of his missing pet. No Ruffles! Then he sped down to the Antarctic ocean repeating the exercise. Turning up empty again. Shawn began to despair.

“Well, where did you see him last? Start there, and try to think where he might go.”

“Okay, mom.”

Ruffles loved to eat. And he loved the fish from earth more than anything. So why wasn’t he feeding in either of his favorite places? Shawn was stymied.

“Hey! Wait a minute.” Shawn said. “I bet I know where he’s gone”

He flashed off to the other side of the blue planet and sure enough, there was Ruffles, leaping and jumping in a great frenzy. Scooping him up, Shawn sped back home.

“Where’d you find him?” his mother asked.

“It dawned on me where’d he’d most likely be, mom.”

“Well, don’t keep me in suspense, son.”

“Washington D.C. of course. Ruffles heard there was something fishy going on there.”
