The plans that are taking up my personal time.
|It can’t always be about work or serving your community. Sometimes, it has to be about you. There are a few things that I am planning just for me.
Even though the groundhog has seen his shadow, Spring will be here eventually. I am looking forward to starting my garden. Since I moved into a ground level apartment with a yard that I actually have access to, I started doing a garden every summer. The planting date is erratic because I live in Newfoundland, and the weather here is variable. I am hoping to start somewhere around the middle of June. I use Miracle Grow, so the middle of June is just in time to create a beautiful garden by the mid-July. I would love to start when the planting season starts in March, but that is rarely possible. This is a definite plan for every Summer.
A few years ago I served in a committee which helped fund refugee families from Syria, and assist them in finding a new home in Canada, specifically in Newfoundland. We received the funding for one family, and the committee was disbanded. It did give me an idea, though. The idea only just occurred to me. Why not create a date base accessible to those who want to immigrate so they can find out if there are jobs available in the country they wish to inhabit? That way the person could be on the way to getting a work Visa. I think that a lot of the problem is that poverty might cause a lack of education, but a data base of jobs can cover many types of jobs, including jobs which require less education.
These two-my consistent project and my long term project-are the current things occupying my personal life.
