Make your business work with your family.
When you have your own business, like I do, it might be a challenge to keep your harmony in your family, at least at first. When I set up my business I made sure that my time with my family did not suffer. Here’s how to do it.

First, it is imperative to completely explain what your business goals are to your family. Don’t hit them with changes suddenly.

After your family knows of your intentions, sort out what activities will be needed to successfully establish your business and firmly embed running your it into your day. You could use a notebook, spreadsheet, or blank computer document.

For a week or so, take note of all the activities your family takes part in, including any sports or clubs your kids are involved in. Again this can be done in a notebook, or digital document of some sort.

When you have you family’s routine clear in your mind, call a family meeting. With your family, schedule your business activities and family activities in order to sort out any conflicts. The aim of this meeting will be to avoid as much conflict as possible as you run your business.

Take what you have learned in your family meeting and get out your calendar. Schedule your business and family activities. You now should have a comprehensive schedule on your calendar.

Planning ahead will make your business life and family life coincide in a much smoother fashion.
