Flash fiction with the words "We did it again" |
| Nirmal’s voice was even. “A little bit of thought needs to go into this.” The others solemnly nodded. He had assumed leadership of the group and everyone was fine with it. “But this time they have increased the security,” Latha complained. Nirmal gave her an irritated look. “It doesn’t matter. We will find a way. A better plan is needed, that’s all.” Lolo brought out the large white sheet. All the heads came together. Nirmal was exasperated. “Guys, we can’t all be doing this together. I’m going to assign roles to each one.” Again nods. Nirmal wanted someone to at least say something so he was not the only one thinking. “Okay, you three, you are going to be the distraction,” he pointed at Bhim, Palak and Jana. They were not capable of much else. “Amira, Lucy and I will chart out the plan and will show it to you all once we are done.” The three started drawing the plan on the paper. The different colors helped them chart out the route in and out. It went fast and they were done in a few minutes. Nirmal sat back with a satisfied grunt. Once more, the entire group huddled. Quick instructions went out, though the ‘distraction’ group required a few repetitions. Even he was amazed as to how flawless it went. Bhim, Palak and Jana created such a ruckus that Mona and Adi had unhindered access. The key was exactly where Nirmal said it would be. In the attic, the group sat together with the mother lode spread out in front of them. “We did it again,” exclaimed Lolo. The three-year-olds had once more managed to outwit everyone to get at the exquisite cookies meant for the party. |
