Thoughts on the beauty and mystery of a Hummingbird

Today I saw hummingbird
its wings so fast in flight.
Taking nectar from a flower
then vanished quick from sight.

I barely saw it coming
and I hardly saw it leave.
These little rockets darting round
their speeds hard to conceive.

Not only flying forwards
yet, back and side to side.
So many gather here to feed
but they do not collide.

Such iridescent colors
sparkling brightly in the sun.
Never stopping for too long
they're always on the run.

These small miraculous wonders
it's a joy to watch them fly.
Breaking rules of aeronautics
as they dance about the sky.
