a short poem about the power of music
Dead Enemy

You can’t win a war with a dead enemy.
The masses protect them from need.

If you think they'll die off and their voices ring true.
The enemy is living in spite of you.

Take over the airwaves and sing out a tune.
The song has live rhythm and booms.

The voices are soaring and the beat sinks in.
There is no Godly way you can win.

You outlaw the music and the music grows.
You outlaw the music and nobody knows.

You cut off its air and it grows without you.
You poison the water; what else can you do?

You pull at its roots and the roots grow deeper.
You race up its hill and its hill gets steeper.

You mow down the people and the people arise.
You look in their faces, but don’t see their eyes.

They look to another and you simply don't see.
You can’t win a war with a dead enemy.
