April 2019 Entry for DreamTime Dragon's Poem Contest (20 lines).
There once lived an ancient beast,
On villagers and cattle, he would feast.
Fright would fill the children’s eyes,
When looking up at chilly skies.
As cold nipped at their toes,
Stories of the beast arose.
Not fire and smoke, did be breathe,
But ice and snow, did he sneeze.
The Dragon King of the frosty peeks,
Of mountains near the frozen creeks,
To most he was a story to fear,
Something as a child they would hear.
But for the few unfortunate ones,
Who never got to see their sons,
After the beast they happened to meet,
And they, the dragon, decided to eat.
This ancient beast of ice and snow,
As spring arrives no one can know,
The truth of what happens to him,
All we have are the stories, so grim.
