Modern Heresy

April 5th Entry. NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2019. Cut Up experiment, in 7-7-7-5 style.

Upside down in a large tank
white flowers are reddening
against the tall sandstone cliffs
         why can't he grow up?

Long grass slowly turns yellow
pestering good folks outside
exoskeletal critters
         the toads blink daily

Ocean currents billow smoke
coiling unnaturally
embraced by younger culture
         atop secret lands

White larval feeders eating
breaking firmament azure
making us feel sick inside
         not weapons, fun toys

The birds are all chirp singing
from a tied bamboo ladder
to clear out stomach toxins
         their nests are burning

Rings of conifer needles
harbouring foul parasites
collected from the roadside
         you shouldn't eat shoes

Ground wet as big puddles form
retaining much, losing more
blades spinning slowly above
         to begin anew!
