Landry's investigation takes a strange turn when the stalker becomes the victim.
“When did you last see your ex-brother-in-law?” Detective Landry studied the nervous woman sitting across the kitchen table from him.

“Five years ago, when my sister divorced him,” Mindy said.

“He’s dead,” Landry said.

Mindy raised the coffee mug to her lips. “That’s not what I expected to hear.”

“He was found dead in his apartment this morning.”

“My sister and I were visiting our parents last night. Mom had cataract surgery yesterday.”

“I verified that.” Landry paused. “I’m here because he was following you. I hoped you knew why.”

“No,” Mindy’s hands shook as she sat the mug on the table. “Why me?”

“I don’t know. You must have a guardian angel. He’s dead and you aren’t.”

“Yet,” Mindy mumbled, taking a shaky sip of coffee.

Landry sighed and closed his notepad. This investigation had taken a strange turn.
