A preview of round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs
|(Due to a power outage yesterday, I was unable to write the preview until today. Sorry for the inconvenience).
Well, the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs are on their way, starting last night.
Here's a preview of round one, including, predictions.
Columbus Verses Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Lightning are President Trophy winners, however, winning the trophy has a bad history.
Through the years, President Trophy winners have been eliminated in the first two rounds.
Winning the trophy doesn't really mean anything.
Last night, the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to win Game One 4-3.
Despite the comeback, I still believe Tampa is going to go through to the second round.
Prediction: Tampa in five games.
Pittsburgh Verses New York Islanders
Despite the fact that the Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime last night, I don't believe New York is capable of competing with the Pen's. killer offense.
Prediction: Pittsburgh in six games
Boston Verses Toronto
The Toronto Maple Leafs are too inconsistent to defeat a team such as the Boston Bruins.
Prediction: Boston in four games. Enough said.
Carolina Verses Washington
In the standings, both teams are even, however, the Washington Capitals have a 50 goal scorer.
Prediction: Washington in five games.
St. Louis Verses Winnipeg
This is a real toss up.
Both teams finished second (Winnipeg) and third (St. Louis) respectively.
Prediction: Winnipeg in seven games.
Dallas Verses Nashville
The Nashville Predators won the regular season series, 3-2-0.
Dallas Star's goalie, Ben Bishop, had a record of 27-15-2 with a goals against average of 1.98 in the regular season.
Also, Dallas has Tyler Seguin, who had 80 points this season.
Prediction: Dallas in six games.
Vegas Verses San Jose
The Vegas Golden Knights are not the team from last year. Not by a long shot
The Knights finished seventh in the Western Conference.
The San Jose Sharks finished second.
The Sharks won Game One last night convincingly.
Prediction: San Jose in five games.
Colorado Verses Calgary
The Colorado Avalanche barely made the playoffs.
Calgary placed first in the conference.
Prediction: Calgary in four games.
