A brief monologue framing the choice between peace and life over conflict and death.
our sole reason for being here
despite our lives's most hoped-for joy;
can conflict's path remove what's dear
to our tired souls and make us coy
about a dream that's so, so near?
We, people who live for new hope
and seek peace in the face of strife,
together struggle to just cope
and succeed as if no one life
is beyond saving in the scope
of passing at the end of life.
It would be more final to die
than to live and thrive and so give
ourselves the gift of knowing why
we sacrifice and must survive
than let success just pass us by
with no chance to ever arrive.
