This Month's Editor: Wordsmitty ✍️

Hello again. Hope your blogging is well and you're enjoying many blogs. Before I forget, June is the Annual Blog/Journal Month over at "The Bard's Hall Contest. Check for sure and have fun.

This month the Feature deals with holiday blogs or blogging. What is that, you ask? Well, you'll have to scroll down and read. *Wink*

Hopefully, after last month's Feature you are all getting excited to blog about your travels. Remember, travel blogging is not just major trips or vacations. Any traveling can count, although maybe your daily commute might get a bit repetive unless your experience does change or you have a great imagination. So why not try it?

Be sure to read the Editor's Picks and leave a comment that you saw them listed in the Blogging Bliss. Also, welcome those new and restarted blogs.

Keep on Bloggin'!

Last month the Feature was a discussion on Travel Blogging. This often happens because you're on holiday (vacation) or during an official "Holiday." Official holidays always have something interesting to put in a blog. Have you ever considered having a blog full of just holiday happenings?

This is a holiday weekend in the USA - Memorial Day for remembering and honoring people who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. There are a myriad of celebrations locally and nationally as well as family gatherings to rejoice in the unofficial start of summer. (You all know solar summer doesn't start until the solstice around June 21, but it's already getting hot and the sun is high and many schools are over.)

A special occasion like a holiday means a great opportunity to blog and record the happenings. Holidays are perfect fodder for blogging because they usually have special meaning or happenings or get-togethers. It's a time with all the elements of a great story, and many stories are based around holidays. What better time to scribble a blog entry or two or more.

You may think that there's too few holidays and too infrequent to have a dedicated Holiday Blog. Not so. Just because a holiday is one day doesn't mean that what happens with it doesn't occur before and after it as well. Holiday preparations and holiday recovery (and cleanup). And don't firget that holiday planning that can start way before the holiday.

A Holiday Blog is a theme blog based around holidays. It doesn't have to have an entry every day of the year. Many blogs don't, right? It can be an important part of collected memories. Consider it a word scrapbook just like one fills a scrapbook with pictures and mementos. It's something that can show how life changes over time.

It can also be a blog of opinions on the holiday or what your opinion is of other opinions that surface during the holiday. Remember blogs are more than recording events. It's the individual's personal reflection as well as style that makes a blog enticing and interesting.

So if you're in the USA and have finished those hot dogs and cheered enough at the parade, relax and let your thoughts flow into your blog or, maybe, a new blog to summarize your holidays. If you're not celebrating now, consider a note-to-self to start a holiday blog on your next holiday. The more blogs the merrier!

Blogger's Tips-N-Tricks          *GEEK*

While scrolling over a member's briefcase next to their handle, it tells you when they first joined (or last joined if they left then rejoined). Have you ever wondered, though, who might have an account anniversay today or, maybe, on the same as yours? Remember how excited you'd get in school when the teacher had everyone tell their birthday month and there was almost always someone who had a birthday in the same month as yours. Are you getting excited now to see who has an account anniversary today or tormorrow?

OK. At least I'm glad a few of you see this as an exciting interest and have continued to read.

Now you know that many groups on WDC keep a list of their members' anniversaries and will put that out so others can wish them well or do a review or something nice for them that day. Yeah, virtual balloons are limited to using an emote {E:BALLOONY}. But if you're not in a group or you're just nosy about whose anniversary is today, you can find that quickly and easily.

In the left column, near the bottom is "Writing.Com Tools." Click that to open the submenu. In the third section, just click on "Account Anniversaries." You get today's and a whole month's listing. If you want a different month, just shift using the selections at the top next to "View More."

Now, aren't you excited to go try it out?
