Reflection in my coffee. June 14, 2019

The Last One

I might want you
I might need you
But I'll never love you

The words you told me long ago
Just like that song from my past
You weren't afraid to let me know
And still I believed to the very last

That cruel game that you all played
Broke a heart that you all never knew
Through it all I still hoped and prayed
That somehow I could just talk to you

Nights walking in the rain
Songs to express my pain
Ice packed around my heart
Things I did from the start

I don't know love at all

The years have come and gone
The places I thought I'd never be
All the things that have went wrong
I wish they would have changed me

I still find only that unrequited love
Wake from my dreams still so blue
Still whispering to the one up above
Still hopelessly waiting here for you

Tears falling in the night
Dreams fading out of sight
Me painting the color blue
Things to remind me of you

I don't know love at all

I might want you
I might need you
But I'll never love you
