“Stop!” the stranger yelled, grabbing Andrea’s arm.
Andrea turned, glaring. How dare he!
In the five seconds that happened, a car screeched around the corner, out of control, and after crossing the spot where she would have been walking, crashed into another car.
Shaken to the core, Andrea slowly turned her eyes to the man, “You saved my life!”
“Ah, can I stay with you a minute?” he asked oddly.
“Um, I guess so...” She did feel an obligation, since he’d just saved her life. “Let’s sit down.”
They walked to a nearby bench. “How did you know that car was coming, you couldn’t have seen it?” she asked, suddenly realizing that.
“Well, I’m from the future. Just a little bit.”
“A little bit?”
“About ten hours.”
“On my planet, we’re in a different time zone. I can still see our time, It’s about ten hours ahead of yours.”
“Your...planet...?” Andrea asked.
“Oh, I shouldn’t have said that! I’m actually waiting to get picked up. I’m going home.”
“When will that happen?”
“About three years more years, your time,” he said, sadly.
Andrea was a quick thinker. “I can keep you busy till then, if you want...”
“Sure! My name is Gip.”
Over time, Andrea and Gip became the best of friends Eventually they fell in love, then married and had two beautiful children. Not really.
In reality, Gip was actually made of gas, camouflaged in a human form. He was delighted to finally leave earth and get back to his natural form. Andrea was also delighted, Gip had an odor that got cloying after a few hours. Besides, she didn’t really need him anymore. Thanks to Gip’s powers, and the many different kinds of betting on earth, she was still young, and now, filthy rich!
