About my struggles with addiction; Feedback appreciated. đź’•
Why is life so confusing?
Sick and tired of losing.
Tell yourself it’s alright
just so you can keep on using.
Ignorance is really bliss.
Isn’t that what they say?
But you work and you learn—
You crash and you burn—
until that ignorance goes away.
Behind your lifeless eyes
you are obviously upset.
But who can blame you?
You’ve lost family, friends, respect.
The day you realized the world is sad
and people play a part,
you had to wake up and be there
despite your broken, troubled heart.
The reality of an imperfect world
broke you at the seams.
The tragedy of wasted time
stole away your innocent dreams.
You’re barely existing;
You are wasting away.
How long can you go on
Thinking everything is okay?
Looking in the mirror
at your sickly complexion,
you can’t even recognize
your own damn reflection.
The path you’re walking is dark
but it’s not your destiny.
Lost and insecure I vowed;
“This won’t get the best of me.”
Instead I allow the tides of life
to finally guide me home,
as the sky shouts, SURRENDER;
You are not alone.
