Thoughts about the universe.
Strange yet ordinary universe
more than sun and crescent moon,
starry hot yet cooling down
(though heat death be very far
  from now…)
black hole bizarre
where stars once were;
gone to singularity*
nothing left save gravity.
On very hot days
(much like today)
I like to sit and think of her;
vast lady, more dark than
Strange lady—she
rocks us in our cradle
of complacency, only
to oust us from our
comfort beds.
To us, things appear strange;
to her, though, another
galactic yawn.
Or boring worm hole.
She is all and everything,
she is time, she is
Southwind; a
melding of direction
and force, perhaps, or
purposeful collision,
like atoms smashing
inside stars.
Surprises await always,
the further we look, far
as the eye can see.
Aurora Borealis,
those Northern lights;
the ordinary waving a wand.
A pink rainbow, like purple rain,
may not be as strange
as it seems.

*Singularity...a point of infinite density and
                      gravity inside a black hole.
